When two Benedictine monks from Pennsylvania arrived to build a monastery and make attempts at building a winery, it was in 1886 that the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey got its start. It wasn\’t until the year 2000 that twenty monks decided to start making wine there. More than 100 trophies and medals have been given to the wines produced in numerous international wine competitions, such as the Colorado Governor\’s Cup, Winemaker Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competition, San Francisco International Wine Competition, and Tasters Guild International.
